GIFTED ASSESSMENT

Sometimes, a psychological assessment is sought with the specific goal of determining whether the child meets criteria for giftedness. Giftedness is not a diagnosis, but rather is a term used to refer to individuals with exceptionally high cognitive abilities. The possibility of giftedness may arise if your child is over-achieving, or appears to be extremely bright but bored at school. Sometimes gifted assessments are requested to determine whether an alternative educational program, accommodations, or modifications to the regular program would be helpful.
